The first run of the new course “Fermentation: a quantitative approach combining calculations and experiments” has taken place at UNICAMP from 28 November until 2 December 2016. The course is jointly offered by Professor Telma Franco (Faculty of Chemical Engineering of UNICAMP) and Professor Walter van Gulik (Department of Biotechnology of TU Delft). The course is supported and funded by the International Relations Office of UNICAMP, BE-Basic and Applikon.
The course aims to update the postgraduate students on international R&D and develop essential skills concerning microbial stoichiometry, making compound balances, as well as the practical experience in working with computer modelling - modelling batch fermentation, and error propagation (statistics).

MOOC Industrial Biotechnology
After two successful runs, the online course Industrial Biotechnology will start again in October 2016. With the support of the international BE-Basic Consortium, Delft University of Technology and the University of Campinas have developed this Massive Open Online Course in 2014. In each run of this free course, 10.000 students from around the world have participated, of which over 300 passed annually. Read here more about the new course.
Strategic Communication & Policy for a Bioeconomy Course
In this course, an international team of lecturers will focus on industrial fermentation processes and design of bioreactors, flanked by overviews on upstream and downstream processing, as well as economic analysis.
Workshop "Is Europe losing momentum on biobased Business?"
Prof. Emiel Wubben, Associate Professor in Strategic Management at Wageningen University (NL), presents the workshop entitled "Is Europe losing momentum on biobased Business?", discussing the current situation of the search and construction of the bio-economy in Europe.
The event was organised in cooperation with NIPE - Interdisciplinary Center of Energy Planning, of the University of Campinas, and presented at the videoconference room of the Center.
Prof. Wubben holds a Doctorate degree in economics, from Tinbergen Institute at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. Teaching on Strategic Management, biobased transition, and advanced business strategies. Research Fellow of WASS, with research focused on synergyparks, collaborative action, and biobased business.
An interactive workshop to SHOW the unique DUAL DEGREE PhD PROGRAM between the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft, Netherlands) and the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil) to professors and students of UNICAMP, to DISCUSS new ideas for dual degree PhD projects and to STIMULATE proposals.
For many years TU Delft and UNICAMP have a collaboration in fields of research, education and business development. All the parties involved are very active in the program and regularly visit each other’s universities. Last March prof. Joni Meyer (pro-rector of UNICAMP) and Glaucia de Freitas Lorenzetti, (coordinator of international programs) visited Delft University of Technology. They discussed mutual interests and collaboration in developing international education, following an extension to the present MoU to jointly develop MOOCs.
